Himanshu Saini, a farmer from Murtazapur village in the Thana Behat region of Saharanpur, is one of those farmers. In 2018, Himanshu Saini began training at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Saharanpur to cultivate mushrooms at home. He chose to cultivate button mushrooms. Following his successful cultivation of button mushrooms, Himanshu Saini began growing additional kinds of mushrooms. Himanshu Saini gained notoriety for growing mushrooms and is now growing oyster and milky mushrooms at home by making mushroom bags. According to Himanshu Saini, there is a healthy market demand for mushrooms. In the market, mushrooms are offered for between Rs 120 and Rs 150 per kilogram. Delhi and Dehradun get mushrooms grown by Himanshu Saini. According to Himanshu Saini, growing mushrooms may often provide more profits than growing other kinds of crops.
