Success Story: This farmer changed his fortune by cultivating capsicum, earning more than 85 lakhs annually
Success Story: Farmers are cultivating cash crops since conventional farming produces fewer crops. More farmers are cultivating vegetables in particular as a source of income. Vegetable farming brings considerably more money for farmers than crop farming does. These days, it is up to the farmers to choose which veggies to plant in their fields, which the market is always in need of. More money is made by farmers cultivating capsicum than any other vegetable.
In the market, capsicum is one vegetable that often commands a higher price. Farmers nowadays who recognize this are making large sums of money. Growing capsicum helps many farmers in the Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, make a substantial income. Alok Yadav, a farmer in the Basrehar development block’s Chakva Bujurg hamlet, is one such individual who makes millions of rupees a year.
Capsicum Cultivation Changed the Fortunes of Farmers
The 33-year-old Etawah farmer Alok Yadav disclosed to the press that he was raised in abject poverty. He was a youngster who had polio, which left one of his legs entirely crippled. In addition, Alok’s mother and sister have disabilities. He said that he had read in a magazine about growing capsicums. He then made the decision to plant capsicum on his land.
He said that he moved away from conventional farming and began producing capsicum in one bigha. However, his lack of expertise cost him, and the harvest was destroyed. He then planted capsicum once more. He began to benefit from capsicums gradually, and his area began to grow as well. Alok grows capsicum all year round. He now knows this crop so well that he can stop any sickness or issue from happening.
Growing Seventy Bighas of Capsicum
Journalists were informed by young farmer Alok that he hasn’t grown capsicum in five years. He began sharecropping in roughly 70 bighas to cultivate capsicum after seeing the crop’s potential for profit. He said it would need Rs 15 lakh to cultivate capsicum on a wide scale. At any one moment, more than one crore worth of capsicum is produced.
Profit up to 85 lakhs
In only five years, growing capsicums has brought him crores of money. Along with this, he has used the money he made from growing capsicums to purchase five bighas of land. Alok has turned to sophisticated technologies while growing capsicums. Because of this, the crop is safe with less water and produces a large yield. In a statement, Deputy Agriculture Director RN Singh informed the media that Alok is motivating other farmers as well. Farmers are practicing farming by adhering to his guidance.
