Success Story: Know Paramveer Singh’s journey from being a Merchant Navy Captain to becoming a millionaire farmer through natural farming
Success Story: In Punjab, where chemical-based farming has long been the standard, Captain Paramveer Singh is paving the way for a revolutionary change. He has adopted the teachings of world spiritual teacher Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and The Art of Living, fusing the discipline of the Merchant Navy with the knowledge of natural farming to develop a farming model that benefits the community and the earth.

Paramveer is reviving the land, encouraging the production of more wholesome and nutrient-dense crops, and creating a more lucrative future for farmers with his creative methods. His nature-inspired, climate-resilient agricultural practices guarantee early-season availability for consumers while producing double the profit of traditional farming. A new benchmark for successful and sustainable agriculture in the area is being established by this special combination of traditional knowledge and contemporary methods.
Sustainable Farming and the Seas: Paramveer Singh’s Path
Paramveer Singh goes through a demanding six-month sailing schedule as a Captain in the Merchant Navy. When he is not sailing, he helps his father, who retired from Union Bank of India in 2016 as a Deputy General Manager, with natural farming on his 15-acre property. They have a strong ancestry linked to farming. According to Paramveer, “Kheti humari pushtaini hai.” The kheti dekhi hai is Maine bachpan se. “Kheti karvayi hai, bhi kheti father ne to phone par.”
He first learned about Permaculture and then Natural Farming methods in 2016, which marked the beginning of the transition to natural farming. The stress of sailing and his research into natural farming led him to discover the Sudarshan Kriya, a potent breathing technique approved by Gurudev that has since been a pillar of his life.
“After a long period, I felt rejuvenated and happy when I performed Sudarshan Kriya for the first time at The Art of Living Bangalore Ashram. He says, “I have practiced Sudarshan Kriya even on the ship to stay calm and focused because my job is stressful.”
The Dedication of Paramveer Singh to Healthful Farming
His property, Bimbh Natural property, combines natural farming, permaculture, and regional farming practices today. He was able to modify these approaches to Punjab’s particular circumstances while preserving the core of traditional knowledge because of the methodologies he acquired at the Sri Sri Institute of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SSIAT).
The rare Sona Moti Wheat, Bansi Wheat, Unpolished Basmati Rice (aged for two years), turmeric powder, jaggery, whole moong (Sabut Moong), whole moth (Sabut Moth), mustard oil, potatoes, and garlic are just a few of the exceptional, healthiest, and highest-quality fruits, vegetables, and grains that Paramveer Singh’s farm is known for. He has a devoted following thanks to these goods, which are renowned for their nutritious content, exquisite flavor, and purity. Many of his clients are people with long-term medical issues, such as cancer sufferers, who have seen real advantages from his product.

Gaining historical recognition
Krishi Jagran, in partnership with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), recently presented him with the Millionaire Farmer of India (MFOI) Award 2024 for his achievement and commitment to natural farming. Bimbh Natural Farm was honored for its dedication to sustainable farming and business sustainability in the cutthroat market of today.
In contrast to Punjabi traditional farmers, who mostly use single-crop chemical farming, Paramveer takes a more comprehensive approach:
- Soil health and intercropping: He uses intercropping, which lowers input costs by benefitting the next three with each yield.
- Direct Retail Model: He sells 95% of his products straight from his farm, cutting out intermediaries and increasing revenue.
- Fixed-Price Marketing: To guarantee price consistency, he establishes prices for seasonal products at the start of each season. For instance, he charges Rs 60/kg for cauliflower all year long, whether the market price is Rs 20 or Rs 80. In a similar vein, even when the market varies between Rs 40 and Rs 400, his garlic always sells for Rs 200/kg.
- Increased Profit Margins: The typical revenue from traditional chemical farming in Punjab is between Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 per acre. In contrast, because of value addition via processing, his naturally cultivated turmeric and sugarcane bring in Rs 200,000 per acre.
A Spiritual Bond with the Terrain
What really makes Paramveer unique is his conviction that farming is a kind of meditation rather than just a job. He claims that “farming is like meditation; usse sukoon milta hai,” and that Sudarshan Kriya has been crucial in reinforcing his viewpoint and keeping him calm, concentrated, and very engaged with his job.
