Considering his achievements, he was recently given the ‘State Award’ at the Krishi Jagran-sponsored Mahindra Tractors Millionaire Farmer of India Awards-2024. In this case, tell us in detail about Narendra Chahar’s achievement as a progressive natural farmer.

Transition from MNC to Organic Farming

Narendra Chahar’s life began in a typical way. His life was secure while he was employed at a multinational agrochemical corporation. However, he thought that his life should have a different purpose after hearing the account of a cancer sufferer. He asked himself whether he would just work at a regular job throughout his life or if he would give his life a new purpose by doing something unusual.

He eventually came onto a video with Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat discussing natural farming, often known as zero-budget farming. Narendra Chahar was greatly impacted by the teachings of Acharya Devvrat. He made the decision to quit his work in order to pursue his newfound interest in natural farming.

Natural farming: The way to farming on a shoestring

Natural farming was how forward-thinking farmer Narendra Chahar began his career. Natural farming, also known as zero-budget farming, uses cow products, including milk, curd, ghee, buttermilk, cow dung, and urine instead of artificial pesticides and fertilizers. They also employ natural products.

On his 16 acres of land, progressive farmer Narendra began natural farming. But he had 24 acres of property in all. His entire agricultural property was 45 acres after he leased some of it. He now utilizes four cattle of the indigenous breed for his farming. He thinks that one cow and at least ten acres of land may be used for natural farming.

Intercropping and seasonal crops

In Narendra Chahar’s fields, something new is continually happening. During the Rabi season, he grows crops like wheat, potatoes, lentils, mustard, gram, and so on. In addition, he engages in intercropping, which is the practice of growing two or more crops in the same field.

According to him, crops grown naturally have fewer illnesses and issues. Products like Jeevamrit, Ghan Jeevamrit, Agni Astra, and Brahmastra may readily address any issue that may come up. These tools make it simple to deal with issues like termites, insects, and caterpillars that are often encountered in regular farming.

Natural farming’s inception and difficult circumstances

Narendra, a progressive farmer, explains that during the first three years of natural farming, the revenue was not very excellent. He had to put in a lot of effort and picked up a lot of new skills throughout this period. However, his income also rose quickly after this time, as the crops began to stabilize and their production rose.

He said that he faced several obstacles when he first started natural farming, but he persisted. He demonstrated via his diligence that success is definitely attained if one works hard and with genuine purpose.

Revenue and output

Later, Narendra, a forward-thinking farmer, began producing sesame, oil, legumes, and other goods. Under the “Swastik” brand, he sells around 80% of these goods from his house. This has proven to be a highly successful business strategy since they are promoting their own goods in addition to making significant revenues from farming.

He leads a wealthy existence thanks to the money he makes from natural farming. He is a successful and wealthy farmer as a result of his diligent labor and well-directed efforts.

The Krishi Jagran Award and Recognition Across the Nation

In addition to those in his immediate vicinity, Narendra Chahar’s efforts and accomplishments were acknowledged nationally. At the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards in 2024, he received the ‘State Award.’ Krishi Jagran presented this prize in an attempt to honor farmers’ achievements.

In an interview with media reports, Narendra hailed Krishi Jagran and called this honor a huge accomplishment, stating that farmers were given the same treatment at the MFOI Awards 2024 as politicians and celebrities are.
