However, Ramkaran had a goal: he wanted to show that farming could be a very successful endeavor if done correctly. Difficult Road To Success

Ramkaran had a difficult road to success. He experienced the typical difficulties that many farmers have, such as erratic weather patterns, volatile market prices, and ongoing pressure to produce enough to survive. But he understood that he needed to innovate if he was going to accomplish anything significant.

When Ramkaran attended a training session at the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) in Shimla, his agricultural career took a dramatic turn. The Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department had advised this course, and it changed his life.

“My attitude to potato cultivation was completely changed when I discovered the seed plot method at CPRI. Ramkaran remembers, “It was more than just a technique; it was a new way of thinking about farming.”

Ramkaran did more than simply put the principles into practice; he went above and beyond with the help of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the expertise he acquired from CPRI. On his farm, he constructed a modest tissue culture facility that enabled him to generate premium potato seeds. This investment paid off handsomely, guaranteeing his consumers’ affection for the product and a plentiful crop.

Built The Brand

Ramkaran Tiwari is the current owner of Shivam Seeds Farm, which bears the name of his son Shivam Tiwari, a B.Tech. engineer who is heavily involved in the farm’s management. Both bring both cutting-edge technology and conventional agricultural practices to support the farm’s expansion and prosperity. The farm, which is 30 acres, yields an astounding 3,500 to 4,000 quintals of potatoes annually. The large range and excellent quality of potatoes grown on Ramkaran’s farm set it apart.

“We cultivate about ten different kinds of potatoes, some of which are Kufri Lima, Kufri Sangam, and Kufri Bahar. We take great satisfaction in providing our consumers with the highest quality food by carefully cultivating each variety, adds Ramkaran.

Ramkaran didn’t, however, stop at creating superior potatoes. He used contemporary marketing strategies, establishing direct connections with his clients via social media. Ramkaran shares information about his goods online rather than depending on conventional market sales. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Pet purchases are made directly from the farm by customers. We’ve established a solid rapport with them and they have faith in the quality of our goods. Ramkaran says, “The price is reasonable, and our customers know they can rely on us even in the event of market fluctuations.”

Effect On The Community

The community as a whole has greatly benefitted from Ramkaran’s achievement in addition to him and his family. His high-quality output and inventive agricultural methods have allowed Etawah to go from importing potatoes from Punjab and Haryana to exporting them to these regions.

“Potatoes are now being exported; before, they were imported. We are proud of it, and in the next years, we want to sell our goods abroad,” beaming with satisfaction, Ramkaran remarks.

Ramkaran’s farm has grown to be a major employer and source of income for a large number of locals. Other farmers have been motivated to invest in and develop their agricultural operations by his success story.

Putting Money Into The Future

The voyage of Ramkaran is also a tale of prudent investing. He contributes around Rs. 20–25 lakh to Shivam Seeds Farm annually. The earnings are about Rs. 1 crore, which indicates huge returns. For Ramkaran, however, the true prize isn’t money; rather, it’s the fulfillment that comes from doing something significant and enduring.

“I always advise other farmers to establish their own brand, spend money on high-quality seeds, and get training. If we approach farming with the correct mentality and practices, it may be very successful,” suggests Ramkaran.

Accomplishments and Honors

He was also awarded third place at the 2020 State Fruit, Vegetable, and Flower Exhibition, which took place in Lucknow, for a red potato variety weighing 500 grams.

Motivating the Upcoming Generation

The lives that Ramkaran Tiwari touches and the motivation he gives to farmers all throughout the nation are more important indicators of his success than the tons of potatoes he produces.

“I want every farmer to think that big things are possible for them too. Farming is a means to prosperity and satisfaction, not merely a way of life.” With a voice full of resolve and optimism, Ramkaran ends.

Ramkaran Tiwari’s tale serves as a helpful reminder that there are a plethora of chances lying in store for those who have the audacity to dream big. His transformation from a modest farmer to a prosperous businessman serves as an example for everyone, showing that anything is achievable with the correct attitude and a desire to try new things.
