Fish Farming: This farmer is earning more than 6 lakh rupees profit annually from fish farming alone
Fish Farming: With the aid of contemporary technology, farmers may cultivate fish and make thousands of rupees in addition to conventional farming. After learning about the ideal environment, market demand, and government awards for fish farming, Vinay Kumar Pandey, a native of Rupni village in the Patahi block of the East Champaran district, adopted this approach from his buddy. He is now a highly prosperous farmer who has bolstered his finances with his knowledge and innovative farming methods. Fish farming alone brings in over 6 lakh rupees a year for farmer Vinay Kumar Pandey.
Shifted from conventional farming to fish aquaculture.
Vinay Kumar told media that, like other farmers, he used to engage in conventional paddy and wheat cultivation. On the advice of a close friend, he began fish farming in 2017. Vinay claims that he benefits from fish farming since it requires little effort and has cheap labor costs. Fish farming is now practiced on around 10 acres of land.
Buyers arrive to the actual pond.
According to Vinay Kumar, selling fish is not very challenging. The merchants are notified when the fish is ready. In addition to removing the inconvenience of traveling to the market, the dealers personally visit the pond and remove the fish. According to him, the amount of fish eaten in East Champaran exceeds the amount that the farmers here can produce. They may also make significant money if more people are interested in fish farming.
Making 6 lakhs a year
According to the farmer, the profits from fish farming are far higher than those from conventional farming. An acre of fish farming yields a profit of around one to one and a half lakh rupees. He claimed to have sold fish from the pond for around 3 lakh rupees in the first ten months. This time, he planted 20,000 fish seeds in the same pond and made a profit of 6 lakh.
Fish aquaculture has generated 12 lakh rupees in revenue over the last two years. According to the farmer, the government supports fish farming in a number of ways. This covers market facilities, training, and funding. The government also offers subsidies for pond construction, which encourages farmers to proceed in this path.
