Vermicompost Ikai Scheme: The government is giving a subsidy of up to Rs 50,000 for preparing earthworm compost, know the details
Vermicompost Ikai Scheme: To promote innovation and organic farming in the agricultural industry, the Rajasthan government is providing additional assistance to farmers. In this regard, the Vermicompost Unit Scheme of the Agriculture Department is proving to be very beneficial for farmers. Under this scheme, farmers who set up a vermicompost unit are eligible for a subsidy of up to Rs 50,000. The basis of organic farming is vermicompost, which makes farming free from chemical fertilizers.

Why is vermicompost important and what is it?
Organic fertilizer called vermicompost is made with the help of earthworms. Organic matter is quickly broken down by cellulose and microbes found in the digestive system of earthworms. High-quality vermicompost is prepared from the residues extracted by earthworms. Apart from improving the quality of the crop, this compost makes the soil more fertile.
Important aspects of the scheme
The Rajasthan government provides financial assistance to farmers to make organic fertilizer through the Vermicompost Unit Scheme. As per the scheme, a committee conducts a physical inspection of the vermicompost unit when it is constructed. After verification, the subsidy money is sent directly to the farmer’s bank account. Since earthworms are essential for the production of vermicompost, their availability is necessary. This program enables farmers to produce high-quality compost at a reasonable cost, thereby increasing farm production and profitability.
