This is really excellent news for 32 lakh senior citizens in Uttar Pradesh

UP Elderly Pension: Good news has arrived for 32 lakh elderly individuals in Uttar Pradesh awaiting their old age pension. The state government has announced that the first installment of the pension will be disbursed by July 31. While there are 52 lakh eligible beneficiaries in the state, as of June 15, only 20 lakh had received their first installment due to technical issues hindering the process for the remaining 32 lakh.

Pension Payments to be Processed Digitally by Month’s End

To address the challenge, the Social Welfare Department has assured that these pending payments will be processed by the end of this month without the recipients having to visit any office physically. Special provisions have been put in place at the CDO office to aid those awaiting their pension. The primary obstacles have been attributed to Aadhar card verification and linking bank accounts to the NPCI portal.

Link Your Bank Account to NPCI Portal for Direct Benefits

It is now imperative for beneficiaries to link their bank accounts on the NPCI portal to facilitate direct benefit transfers from both the central and state governments. Instructions have been issued for individuals whose accounts are yet to be linked to approach their banks with the necessary documents, such as Aadhaar and PAN cards, to complete the process.

New Counter Offers Support at CDO Office

To further assist the elderly, a dedicated counter manned by staff from the Indian Post Payment and Pension Section has been set up at the CDO office. These employees will offer support with Aadhaar verification and NPCI linking at the office. In cases where required, new accounts meeting pension criteria will be opened in the post office for a seamless pension disbursement process.

Pension Payments are delayed, But Relief is on the Way

The first installment of the old age pension amounts to Rs 3,000 per beneficiary, which was originally scheduled for June 15. However, with a large number of bank accounts not linked to the NPCI portal, the payments faced delays. The beneficiaries are now assured that the remaining pension funds will be transferred to their accounts within the upcoming week, providing much-needed relief to those eagerly awaiting their support.
