PM Kusum Scheme: Under this scheme, the government is giving up to 60% subsidy on installing solar pumps, know the whole process
PM Kusum Scheme: Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM), the Uttar Pradesh government is offering solar pumps at a 60% subsidy in an effort to provide farmers access to affordable, sustainable energy for irrigation. Under this program, farmers may get inexpensive irrigation systems thanks to funding from the federal and state governments. 54,000 solar pumps will be distributed by the state government based on a first-come, first-served basis.

Because solar pumps are an excellent choice for long-term savings and environmental friendliness, this program is particularly advantageous for farmers that rely on diesel engines or electricity. Tell us about this plan in detail in such a scenario.
Receive up to 60% off when you install a solar pump
In order to lessen the financial burden on farmers, the government is offering subsidies of up to 60% for the installation of solar pumps under the PM Kusum Yojana. The cost of various solar pump types, the federal and state government subsidies, and the specifics of the amount provided by farmers are as follows:
The 2 HP DC surface pump costs ₹1,71,716 in total, of which ₹59,291 is subsidized by the national government and ₹43,739 by the state government. Therefore, the farmer just has to give ₹63,686 and the total subsidy is ₹1,03,030.
Similar to this, a 2 HP AC surface pump costs ₹1,71,716, of which ₹ 63,686 is the farmer’s contribution and the national and state governments’ subsidies are equal.
The cost of a 2 HP DC submersible pump is ₹1,74,541, of which ₹60,986 is subsidized by the federal government and ₹43,739 by the state government. This amounts to ₹1,04,725 in total subsidies, plus ₹64,816 from the farmer.
The cost of the 2 HP AC submersible pump is ₹1,74,073, of which ₹64,629 is the farmer’s contribution and ₹1,04,444 is the total subsidy.
The cost of a 3 HP DC submersible pump is ₹2,32,721, of which ₹82,476 is subsidized by the federal government and ₹57,157 by the state government. This amounts to ₹1,39,633 in total subsidies, plus ₹88,088 from the farmer.
The 3 HP AC submersible pump costs ₹2,30,445; the farmer contributes ₹87,178 and the total subsidy is ₹1,38,267.
The 5 HP AC submersible pump costs ₹3,27,498. The national government and the state governments each contribute₹1,08,449 and₹88,050, respectively, making the total subsidy ₹1,96,499, plus the farmer’s contribution of ₹1,25,999.
The 7.5 HP AC submersible pump costs ₹4,44,094, of which ₹1,72,638 is the farmer’s contribution and ₹2,66,456 is the total subsidy.
A 10 HP AC submersible pump costs ₹5,57,620, of which ₹2,66,456 is the total subsidy and ₹2,86,164 is the farmer’s contribution.

Rules and Requirements for Solar Pumps
Needed Boring:
- For a two-horsepower pump, a 4-inch boring is required.
- For 3 and 5 HP, 6 inch
- 8 inches for pumps of 7.5 and 10 HP.
- Token money will be seized if the verification reveals that the boring does not meet the criteria.
Solar pumps at Various Depths:
- Surface Pump with 2 HP (up to 22 feet)
- Submersible Pump with 2 HP (Up to 50 Feet)
- Submersible Pump with 3 HP (Up to 150 Feet)
- Submersible Pump with 5 HP (Up to 200 Feet)
- Pump with 7.5 and 10 HP (up to 300 feet)
Terms and Payment Procedure

Other crucial guidelines
Ability to switch from diesel to solar power:
- It is possible for farmers who use diesel pumps to switch to solar pumps.
- Farmers whose tubewells will be equipped with solar pumps will no longer have access to energy when their outdated connections are removed.
The advantages of microirrigation technology
- A farmer may have access to a solar pump if he employs microirrigation technology and resides in an area that is overpopulated.
- At the time of verification, the Horticulture Department’s tripartite agreement must be presented.
Restrictions on site changes:
Once the solar pump is built, farmers are unable to move it. The whole subsidy amount will be recouped if this is accomplished.
Depending on demand, the target changes:
The goal will be moved to areas with more demand if there is less demand for any kind of pump in a given district.
Advantages of the plan
- There will be less reliance on fuel and electricity.
- There will be sustainable, eco-friendly electricity accessible.
- Farmers’ irrigation expenses will be significantly decreased.
- Government subsidies will encourage the use of solar energy.
The farmers of Uttar Pradesh would benefit greatly from this program, which will assist them in using contemporary technology. As soon as possible, interested farmers may apply online to get the advantages of this program.
