PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Scheme: 1.7 crore farmers will benefit under this scheme, know full details
PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Scheme: The federal government has unveiled yet another ambitious plan to boost farmer incomes and fortify the agricultural industry. The ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ was introduced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Budget 2025 with the intention of reorienting farming in 100 of the nation’s low-productivity areas. This programme’s main objectives are to increase agricultural output, encourage crop variety, fortify the irrigation infrastructure, and provide farmers access to reasonably priced financial aid. It is anticipated that around 1.7 crore farmers would directly profit from this.

PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana: What is it?
The national government’s Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana is a comprehensive programme that will be executed, particularly in places where farming has not yet reached its anticipated level of growth. The government thinks these areas may also become advanced agricultural models provided they have access to contemporary technologies, high-quality seeds, improved fertilisers, and timely financial aid.
Principal goals of the plan:
- Increasing the productivity of agriculture
- Encouraging the variety of crops
- bolstering the infrastructure for irrigation
- Offering farmers a simple and affordable borrowing option
Which farmers stand to gain from this?
Priority will be given to women farmers, young farmers, landless agricultural labourers, and marginal and small farmers under this programme. Farmers that lack sufficient resources and have not yet been able to fully benefit from government programs will be given preference.
The farmers who will benefit are:
- Farmers with less than one hectare of land are considered marginal farmers.
- Small farmers who own between one and two hectares of land
- Families in agriculture without land
- Female farmers
- Young farmers
What will be offered under the plan?
High-quality seeds, insecticides, fertilisers, soil enhancers, and irrigation tools will be supplied to farmers. To help them prepare the crop on time, low-interest agricultural loans will also be made accessible to them. The plan would also include weather-based guidance and digital agriculture.
