PM Crop Insurance Scheme: When a farmer sows his crop, the biggest problem and worry he faces is that the weather should be favorable for that crop, otherwise there is a risk of his crop getting spoiled, which causes a lot of loss to him. But now farmers have nothing to worry about, 8 major crops will be insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for Rabi 2024-25 in the district.
Farmers can now get cumin, gram, barley, mustard, fenugreek, wheat, isabgol and taramira insured through AIC Insurance Company. Apart from this, tomato, onion, lemon and fennel will also be insured under the weather based crop insurance scheme. Under this scheme, farmers will have to pay only 1.5 to 5 percent of the premium. The remaining amount will be borne by the Central and State Government.
Premium Farmers will have to submit land ownership documents The crop damage will be assessed by the surveyor of the insurance company, farmer and agriculture department officials together. If more than 25 percent of the crop is damaged, then all the insured farmers will be compensated.

Compensation will be given on crop damage: If the crop is damaged due to hailstorm or other natural disasters, farmers will be given up to 80% compensation. Farmers will have to inform the insurance company within 72 hours of the disaster. To get insurance, farmers will have to submit documents like land ownership proof, bank account details etc. Last date for insurance: Loanee and non-loanee farmers can get insurance through online medium till 31 December. If loanee farmers want to opt out of the scheme, they will have to inform the bank by 24 December.
