Ladki Bahin Yojana: Names of these women may soon be removed from this scheme of Maharashtra
Ladki Bahin Yojana: Maharashtra Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana may soon erase the names of a few ladies. The state administration is ready to examine the women’s names on the list. According to reports, the ladies who were on the list but were not qualified for the program would be taken off. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also alluded to a review of the list after Mahayuti’s victory.
Aditi Tatkare, the minister of women and child development, said on Thursday that the government would soon begin the investigation in order to eliminate names that are ineligible. “The state government is going to start scrutiny of the list of beneficiaries of Ladki Behen,” she said during the cabinet meeting. The government had issued eligibility-related directives.
“Scrutiny is necessary to ensure that only women from economically disadvantaged groups, whose family’s annual income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh, can receive the money under the scheme,” the minister said.
According to reports, the government would enlist the Income Tax Department’s assistance in conducting an examination. This will be used to determine the applicant’s family’s income. Women whose name and bank account do not match on their Aadhaar card, have left the state after getting married, or come from a household with a four-wheeler would be deemed disqualified. These candidates will not be able to participate in the subsequent installment.

In June 2024, the Mahayuti administration made the plan public. This included a pledge to provide women from homes earning less than Rs 2.5 lakh annually with Rs 1500 per month. It was further said that after assuming power, the sum will be raised to Rs 2100. Ajit Pawar, the finance minister at the time, had said that 2.47 lakh recipients will get Rs 46 thousand crore from the government coffers.
Additionally, the Finance Ministry has voiced concerns about mounting strain on the state’s resources. It was said that this may make it difficult to pay government officials’ wages in the future. Actually, a large number of these ladies from wealthy households have also been added to the list.
