Eligibility and Application Process of Ganga Cow Women Dairy Scheme

The Ganga Cow Women Dairy Scheme: What is it?

The Uttarakhand government’s ‘Ganga Cow Women Dairy Scheme’ is helping the state’s women become self-sufficient by teaching them to produce milk. The government provides women with financial aid under the program so they may buy milch cattle. Their bank accounts get this aid immediately. In addition, funding is provided for the erection of animal sheds and feed. The goal of this program, according to the news, is to improve rural women’s economic circumstances so they can support their families and generate their own income.

What is the available loan and subsidy amount?

Beneficiaries may purchase two to five dairy cows under this program. The following is the loan amount that has been set for them:

  • For two animals: 160,000 rupees
  • Rs 246,500 for three animals
  • Five animals: Rs 484,000.

Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and female recipients get up to 75% of this amount in subsidies, and the general group receives 50%. The remaining sum is accessible as a bank loan that may be paid back over time using the dairy’s earnings.

Women’s incomes have improved as a result, while animal husbandry is also creating jobs in rural areas. To ensure that there are high-quality animals available, the animals bought under the program are imported from outside the state. Only when their health has been examined are they given to the recipient.

How do I apply?

Women who are interested in applying may get in touch with their local District Cooperative Bank, Dairy Development Department office, or Milk Cooperative Society. You must pick up the application form there and send it in with all required paperwork. The loan is granted after the procedure is finished, and the money is then sent straight to the beneficiary’s account.

How are wages and debt payments going to be handled?

One requirement of this program is that milk sales must only be made via the local milk committee. As a result, the committee automatically pays the bank the loan payments and guarantees a fair price for the milk. The beneficiary’s wages make up the remaining sum, which she uses to provide for her family.
