Farmers Free Electricity Scheme: Farmers are receiving inexpensive power via the Chief Minister Krishi Vidyut Sambandh Yojana, which is administered by the Government of Bihar‘s Energy Department. This scheme’s primary goal is to simplify agricultural operations and provide irrigation water to all farms in the state.

The purpose of this state government program is to provide farmers access to affordable, reliable power for irrigation. Farmers’ incomes will rise as a result of the state’s increased agricultural output. Farmers may apply as soon as possible if they haven’t been able to benefit from this program yet.
8.40 lakh agricultural connections are the goal
By September 2026, the state government hopes to have 840,000 agricultural energy connections in place. 5.81 lakh farmers have received free agricultural power connections so far.
What is the program’s benefit?
- Feeders specifically designed for agricultural use are being produced.
- The number of electric poles, transformers, and cables is growing quickly.
- Out of the Rs 6.74 per unit tariff, farmers are receiving a subsidy of Rs 6.19 per unit.

- Frequent maintenance is no longer necessary thanks to this program, which allows farmers to get their tractor and pumpset serviced every 400 hours, saving them money and time.
