If you are a state farmer as well, grow maize in a scientific manner and use government programs to boost your revenue! Here, you know how…

Dryer machine subsidy

When maize is harvested, it may contain up to 30% moisture. It is far more likely to contain fungus if it is not well dried. As a result, the government is providing dryer equipment subsidies of up to Rs 12 lakh.

  • The dryer equipment cost Rs 15 lakh in total.
  • Government subsidy: Rs. 12 lakh
  • Popcorn machine subsidy: Rs 10,000
  • Aside from this, the government also provides subsidies for other machinery used in processing and seeding.

Rs 15,000 in maize seed subsidies

To boost farmers’ incomes, the Uttar Pradesh government is encouraging the cultivation of maize. The “Quick Maize Development Scheme” provides farmers with a Rs 15,000 payment for each quintal of maize seed. Additionally, hybrid maize, sweet corn, baby corn, and Desi popcorn seeds are included in this plan. The government is also promoting the production of popcorn, baby corn, and sweet corn because of the great demand for these products in tourist destinations.

The goal of maize production

By 2027, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants to see 27.30 lakh metric tons of maize produced. In light of this, the government

  • is expanding the agricultural area.
  • The goal of the government is to boost output.
  • The fiscal year 2023–2024 contains a provision of Rs 27.68 crore.

Currently, Uttar Pradesh produces 21.16 lakh metric tons of maize annually from 8.30 lakh hectares of cultivation. With the assistance of the Indian Maize Institute, which is affiliated with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, the government is supplying farmers with innovative growing methods.

Multiple uses for maize

In addition to being a grain, maize is a significant crop from an industrial and nutritional standpoint. It is used in several fields:

  • Production of ethanol
  • Animal feed and poultry
  • The pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries
  • Production of paper, textiles, and alcohol

used in cuisine as maize flour, popcorn, and baby corn. It is possible to plant maize in Rabi, Kharif, and Zaid. It is more lucrative than other crops since it is simple to grow in drainage regions.

A focus on raising the production of maize

In order for farmers to raise their production per hectare to 100 quintals, the Yogi administration is giving them training, improved agricultural technology, and innovative seeds.

  • Tamil Nadu produces 59.39 quintals of maize per hectare.
  • India’s average production is 26 quintals per hectare.
  • Uttar Pradesh’s average yield in 2021–2022 was 21.63 quintals per hectare.

To help farmers make more money, the government wants Uttar Pradesh’s maize production to quadruple.
