Tomato Cultivation: For the farmers in Chhattisgarh who grow tomatoes, there is good news. Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Raipur showcased the latest tomato variety technology, which has the potential to significantly boost tomato yields. Farmers may boost their revenue and produce more at a lower cost thanks to this technology.

Experts in agriculture claim that farmers may produce up to 50–60 tons of tomatoes per hectare by using new technologies and improved varieties. In addition to being more efficient than conventional farming, this approach increases produce quality.

A new tomato variety was created

Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Raipur has created a high-yielding, disease-resistant tomato cultivar called the Saho hybrid. This variety’s seeds are planted at a rate of 100–125 grams per hectare. Plants are planted in a triangle arrangement of 90 by 60 cm to ensure optimal development. This promotes healthy development by providing the plants with plenty of air and sunshine. Improved tomato output requires a balanced diet. This sophisticated technique calls for the addition of 10–12 tons of cow dung manure, 150 kg of nitrogen, 80 kg of phosphorus, and 60 kg of potash per acre. When drip irrigation is used, water is saved and plants continue to get the moisture they need. This allows the plants to develop quickly and produce better-looking fruits by supplying nutrients for 30 minutes from each drip.

Use this method to manage insects, including whiteflies

To safeguard tomato crops from pests and illnesses, extra care must be taken. Acetamiprid 0.2 grams or imidacloprid 0.5 grams should be combined in one liter of water and sprayed to reduce sucking insects and whiteflies. The recommended dosage of Spinosad for fruit borer insects is 0.5 grams per liter of water. Mancozeb or carbendazim should be administered to stop fungal infections. In addition, to improve the plants’ resistance to disease, organic components such as Trichoderma and Acetobacter should be sprayed. The farmer will produce more and make more money if they choose an enhanced tomato variety to grow.
