MSP Moong Purchase: Farmers of this state are forced to sell their crops at cheap rates
MSP Moong Purchase: Farmers in Rajasthan are concerned that moong would be bought on MSP this time around as opposed to previous year. This time, 98 thousand 345 metric tons fewer moong will be purchased on MSP than the previous year. Let us inform you that the government’s goal for the state’s moong purchase was 301650 metric tons last year; this year, it is just 203305 tonnes.
The farmers in the districts of Nagaur and Didwana-Kuchaman would be most affected by this government decision. This time, farmers had planted moong on 5 lakh hectares in both districts. The average moong output in both districts has been 4.21 lakh tons, according to the Agriculture Department. However, the government would only purchase 203305 tons of moong on MSP from all around the state, in accordance with the objective.
Farmers are compelled to sell their produce at the market.
The data indicates that moong is widely grown in the districts of Nagaur and Didwana-Kuchaman. Here, the farmers are the most concerned. Only 15% of farmers were able to get tokens to sell moong at MSP this time; the remainder farmers are now compelled to sell moong at prices between 1100 and 2,000 rupees per quintal, which is less than the support price in agricultural markets.
We will buy moong from 85009 farmers.
At the support price, 2,03,305 metric tons of moong would be bought from 85009 farmers in Rajasthan this time. Of them, 32613 farmers from Didwana-Kuchaman and Nagaur have registered. Even after this, tokens are still denied to 80–85% of Nagaur’s moong producers. At the moment, MSP has acquired 4.31 lakh quintals of moong from 15 sites across both districts.
11530 of the 21821 registered in the Nagaur district have been purchased. Out of the 10792 registered farmers in the Didwana-Kuchaman district, 7584 have sold moong. After the purchase goal was reached, the Didwana-Kuchaman purchase has ceased.
