Green Chilli Crop: To save the crop from leaf curl virus, take these necessary measures in the beginning itself
Green Chilli Crop: During the winter, farmers grow green chiles in great quantities. Growing green chilies gives farmers a high yield in a short amount of time, but the leaf curl virus poses a serious threat to the crop. As a result, farmers’ crops incur significant losses. To ensure that the crop stays healthy, it is crucial to take the appropriate precautions at the beginning to guard against the leaf curl virus.
The leaf curl virus in green chilies is a widespread and dangerous disease that may seriously harm the chilli crop, according to District Horticulture Officer Dr. Puneet Kumar Pathak. When the leaves of chilli plants are afflicted by this virus, they bend, shrink, and turn yellow. As a result, the plant stops growing and produces less fruit. The white fly insect is the primary vector for the transmission of the leaf curl virus in green chilies. The virus is spread from one plant to another by this insect. Preventing white fly infestations is crucial in such circumstances.
Avoid white flies
It is crucial to take care while developing green chilli plants in order to avoid leaf curl virus. To keep the plant safe from white flies and to ensure its health, grow it on a bed covered with a net. In addition, if leaf curl virus symptoms appear after sowing green chillies, remove the afflicted plant and kill it right once to prevent the virus from spreading to other plants by white flies.
Apply this medication.
Chemical pesticides may be used to combat white flies if green chilli plants still exhibit indications of the leaf curl virus after all required precautions have been taken. Monocrotophos or imidacloprid are chemical insecticides that farmers should use. The leaf curl virus-carrying white fly will perish as a result. The viral epidemic won’t spread among the plants any more.
Neem oil works well too.
Farmers may also choose to use organic methods in place of conventional pesticides. Neem oil should be diluted with water and sprayed on chilli plants by farmers. As a result, the leaf curl virus-carrying white fly will perish.
