Chilli Cultivation: Farmers in the Aurangabad area, which was long plagued by the daily roar of gunfire and the fear of the Naxals, have gradually begun growing fruits and vegetables. In the heavily Naxal-affected Dev block, dozens of farmers grow chillies on a massive scale. Vijendra Yadav, a farmer in Dulare village in the district’s Dev block, grows exclusively chilies in five bighas.

According to farmer Vijendra Yadav, growing chillies costs around 25,000 rupees per acre. Approximately 150–160 quintals of chilli are produced per acre from 200 grams of chilli seeds.
