Apple Plum Cultivation: In Rajasthan’s Sikar district, a large number of farmers use cutting-edge agricultural technologies to generate income in the thousands of rupees. Pachar hamlet in the Sikar district is home to one such farmer. This farmer is growing apple plums and making millions of rupees. This farmer sells his apple plums to traders from major towns like Jaipur. Apple plums cultivated on his area are in demand in other states as well.
For the last five years, Ramkishan Verma, a farmer in Sikar’s Pachar hamlet, has been growing apple plums. In addition, he plants traditional crops including peanuts, jowar, wheat, and gram. This brings in eight lakh rupees a year for him. According to advanced farmer Ramkishan Verma, he began growing apple plums five years ago and has been profitable each year since by using innovative agricultural techniques.
He switched to modern farming once traditional farming started to lose money.
Five years ago, Ramkishan Verma, an advanced farmer, and his family engaged in conventional farming, although he was not making much money from it. There were several instances of lakhs being lost. He described how his farm was once inundated by strong rains, destroying all of the crops that were growing there. In addition, he switched from conventional to technological farming.
Began growing apple plums by obtaining data
Ramkishan Verma said that after abandoning conventional farming, he began researching profitable crops. Then, Ramkishan Verma visited the Sikar nursery, brought back a type of apple plum trees that were more progressed, and planted them in his field. He began delivering luscious apple plums after two years of nonstop hard effort. Upon learning about this, the firm that produces apple plum goods visited his land and purchased every apple plum that had been planted there. He made more money than conventional farming for the first time.
Making between 8 and 10 lakh rupees a year
According to advanced farmer Ramkishan Verma, he has grown apple plums in five bighas and makes between one and two lakhs of rupees a year from each bigha. In addition, he plants conventional crops like peanuts, wheat, and gram. He makes between 8 and 10 lakh rupees a year from both kinds of farming. The Sikar District Collector and the Agriculture Department staff have also made many visits to examine the apple plum farms he established.
