Farm Pond Scheme: Build a pond in your field and get huge subsidy, know the application process
Farm Pond Scheme: The Rajasthan government’s Farm Pond Scheme is helping farmers who are having a hard time with irrigation and the ongoing drop in groundwater levels. Farmers are receiving subsidies to build ponds in their fields under this programme, which is beneficial for irrigation and rainfall conservation. Farmers are able to grow crops even with less irrigation water thanks to this government program, which is also lowering agricultural costs.

Farm Pond Scheme: What is it?
Gathering rainwater and using it for agricultural purposes is the aim of the Farm Pond Scheme. Farmers who are unable to engage in regular farming because of a lack of irrigation supplies would particularly benefit from this programme. With the help of little reservoirs (Talai) erected in the field, farmers may do irrigation all year round. Eligible farmers may now apply online for the programme until September 30, 2025, since the government has extended it for the 2025–2026 year.
Which farmers stand to gain from this?
Farmers who possess at least 0.3 hectares of land will be eligible to profit from the Farm Pond Scheme. Each farmer may apply for a separate farm pond on a minimum of 0.3 hectares of land if the property is jointly owned, provided that all account holders agree. It is important to remember that two farm ponds constructed in the same Khasra number must be at least fifty feet apart. Only if a farmer owns many farm ponds on various Khasra numbers would they be eligible for subsidies.
A drip plant and fountain are required
In addition to building the farm pond, a fountain or drip irrigation system must be installed in order to get the subsidy. This will guarantee the most effective and efficient use of water.
Required paperwork
The following paperwork is required in order for the farmer to get the advantages of the programme:
- A duplicate of Jamabandi
- Map of the land
- The Janadhar card
- Certification as a marginal or small farmer
- The application won’t be accepted into the plan without these papers.
What is the amount of the subsidy?
The government of Rajasthan is offering farmers enticing subsidies to build agricultural ponds.
On a unit cost of ₹1,05,000, small, marginal, Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe farmers would get a 70% subsidy, up to a maximum of ₹73,500.
On the same cost, other farmers will get a 60% subsidy, up to a maximum of ₹63,000.
For plastic pond lining, small, marginal, Scheduled Caste/Tribe farmers would get 90% or a maximum of ₹1,35,000 in subsidies, while other farmers will receive 80% or a maximum of ₹1,20,000.
This award will only be completely available for agricultural ponds that are at least 1200 cubic metres in size. The payment will be computed and disbursed pro rata if a farmer constructs a farm pond larger than 400 cubic meters.
Procedure for Applications
To encourage more farmers to participate in the Farm Pond Scheme, the application procedure has been simplified. Farmers may apply via the e-Mitra Centre, where the operator will assist them in filling out the application and uploading their documentation.
Farmers may apply by going to the Raj Kisan Sathi Portal.
