Chilli Cultivation: The farmers of this state earned huge profits by cultivating chillies

Chilli cultivation: Barabanki farmers in Uttar Pradesh are shifting their agricultural practices away from conventional farming and onto a new path. They are now shifting their focus from growing wheat and rice to cash crops like pickled chilis. The production of pickled chiles has several benefits. It takes less time and is less expensive. At the same time, the market has a healthy need for it. It’s also expensive. All these factors are making farmers more interested in it. This explains why farmers are quickly making millions of rupees.

The farmer explained the agricultural technique

A young farmer named Narendra Verma, who lives in the Barabanki district’s Fatahabad hamlet, makes a solid living at minimal cost by growing pickled chilies. He grows vegetables and pickled chillies, both of which bring him a healthy profit. He is growing pickled chilies in around one and a half bighas today. He is making a healthy profit from farming.

The production of pickled chiles offers a lot of revenue

Although he mostly grows vegetables, such as potatoes, tomatoes, peas, and so on, young farmer Narendra Verma informed Local 18 that he has been growing pickled chillies for the last two years. This farming produces a big return at a minimal cost. He has now grown pickled chiles in around 1.5 bighas, at an approximate cost of 10,000 rupees per bigha. This covers the price of labor, water, fertilizer, pesticides, foil, seeds, and other supplies. At the same time, one crop yields a profit of around 60 to 70 thousand rupees.

The unique feature of this chili is how popular it is. It sells for a fairly high price since it’s utilized in a lot of other things than pickles. We use the mulching technique to grow it. In the fields, this reduces weeds. This crop yields well under such conditions.

In 60 days, the crop will be ready

It is quite simple to grow, according to the farmer. We start by setting up a nursery for its seeds. The field is then thoroughly plowed, filled with cow dung and other manure, and ridges are created throughout. The pickle chili plant is then planted a distance away after the mulch has been placed over it and holes have been created in it. After that, irrigation is carried out right away. We must apply manure to the trees once they begin to develop a bit, since this promotes plant growth. In addition, the crop begins to produce 50–60 days after the plant is planted, allowing us to sell it in marketplaces.
