According to farmer Pappu Kumar, he is growing maize on four acres. In the past, he exclusively engaged in conventional farming. He began growing maize after seeing its growing popularity and financial potential. There were challenges at first, but as he acquired knowledge, he continued to broaden the scope of farming. Nowadays, growing maize generates a healthy revenue as well. He said that growing maize requires more effort. From seed to fertilizer to irrigation, caution must be used.
Irrigation requires extra attention.
According to the farmer, growing maize costs $30,000 per acre. This covers irrigation, fertilizer, seeds, hoeing, and tillage. He said that the row technique is used to cultivate maize. This keeps the plants at the same distance from one another. As a result, the plant continues to develop at a greater pace. The production of maize saves between seventy and eighty thousand dollars per acre.
He said that one may make up to four lakhs by growing maize on four acres. He said that at least five to six irrigations are required for growing maize. He said that in addition to maize, half an acre has been planted with greens. Greens cultivation also generates a good revenue.
