Employees Provident Fund Scheme: The staff’s Provident Fund (EPF) program for contract staff has been authorized by the Delhi University Executive Council (EC). The university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh, presided over the 1272nd meeting of the EC on Monday, during which this crucial decision was made. The event took place at the university’s conference hall.
There was a two-minute silence at the start of the event in honor of Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata. Prof. Singh claims that the Finance Committee’s recommendations led to extensive discussion on all the legal issues, which resulted in the decision to implement the EPF plan. He affirmed that October 2024 would mark the start of the program.
There will be 5% Annual Salary Increase
Dr. Vikas Gupta, the registrar of Delhi University, presented the meeting’s agenda, which included a discussion of the recommendations the Academic Council (AC) had made on October 10. A number of measures were authorized by the EC, one of which was raising the contractual pay of part-time medical officers (GDMOs). Their monthly pay would rise from Rs 45,000 to Rs 55,000 as of October 2024. Additionally, the compensation will grow by 5% annually beginning in April of each year.
Which employees will get the benefit?
The Finance Committee’s recommendations for an in-principle pay increase for retired employees were likewise approved by the EC. Furthermore, authorization was granted for the use of the former pension plan in the event that a government employee passes away while covered by the National Pension Scheme by an office memo. The Maurice Nagar police station on the property was also given a 10-year lease renewal by the municipality. The creation of a committee to investigate the possibility of including the Higher Education Secretary on the Executive Council is another significant action. The Vice Chancellor will receive reports from this committee.
Improvement was also seen in Academic Efforts
In terms of academic advancement, the EC approved East Asian language programs at Hansraj College, Ram Lal Anand College, and Ramjas College. Programs in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese will be offered for these courses. Additionally, the Master of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS) program at the University College of Medical Sciences and the DM course in Pediatric and Neonatal Anaesthesia at Lady Hardinge Medical College were approved by the European Commission.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a resolution empowering the Vice-Chancellor to draft the University’s 2024–2047 Strategic Plan and Institutional Development Plan (IDP) was also approved.
